CARSON & CAYDEN: NEWBORN

I was blessed to shoot my very first newborn session recently with not one, but two perfect little boys, our nephews. Between feedings and fussiness, we squeezed in as many pictures as possible. I know the family was exhausted by the end of the shoot, but I hope that someday their parents can look back on these images, amazed that their boys were ever that small. I am so thankful that Darin and Candice allowed me to take the pictures and get some practice in. I will be forever grateful!

DARIN & CANDICE: MATERNITY

Last weekend, I had my very first session. The weather didn't exactly cooperate, but we made the most of it. It sprinkled, then poured on and off for about four hours. Darin and Candice never complained once, despite the fact that they were wet and covered in grass, despite the fact that I made them lay on the ground, sit in wet chairs, and jump up and down. They were up for anything, which is a true reflection of their personalities. They didn't expect twins, but they embraced it from the very start with excitement and joy, and it's easy to see what wonderful parents they'll be.

Thank you both for allowing me to take some pictures. Ryan and I had so much fun hanging out with you during the rain. We'll see you (and the boys) soon!

SLEEP

It's here! My brand new Canon (my very first Canon) arrived yesterday afternoon, and I couldn't be happier. I have been brimming with excitement since I made the decision to pursue photography, and this just brings me one step closer. I literally have not been able to sleep well at night, and for those of you who know me, you know I love my sleep!

I have a lot of questions and so much to learn. I have a million ideas swirling around in my head along with all of my new goals for the future. I have been praying for a while now for God to give me direction, and I feel confident and peaceful that He has lead me to this path. So I will continue to pray for God's blessings, especially patience.

Already Ryan helped me last night with a few "technical" aspects of the camera when I lost my patience. After, I immediately felt disappointed that I didn't figure things out myself. Today though, I realize how grateful I am to have Ryan's help. Ideally, I'd like to do it all on my own. I will certainly try, but when I get stuck, when I fail, or when I lose my patience yet again, I know my husband will always be there for me. Now if that doesn't give me a good night's sleep, I don't know what will!

NO MORE KODAK EASY SHARE

It's official! We bought my camera last night along with all of the trimmings! Pushing that "place order" button was so exciting and so scary. I told Ryan I was speechless after it was ordered. There's no turning back now. This blog will be a sort of diary for me, and I hope I can one day look back and be proud of the progress I have made. I know I have a long road ahead of me with a lot to learn, but I'm ready. I'll just take one step at a time, beginning with checking my shipping status every five minutes until my packages arrive!
